It is week 5 of the One Room Challenge and this week I had the most ANXIETY I ever had with a project!
Selecting flooring I think was the hardest part of this design (next to finding bar stools- still on backorder btw!)
I knew we were going to use vinyl plank flooring, but the color was so back and forth. Home depot only had a few samples to view in the store, so I ordered about 20 samples online. Which ended up being 3×3 samples. There was no way I could make a decision from that. So it was back to judging online pictures and the 2 larger samples I saw in store
Here’s a few pictures of what I was looking at
Because of my light oak floors in the dining room and living room I knew I did not want to mimic wood. I wanted the tile look, and I wanted it darker. Since the cabinets are white and the quartz is mostly white with gray veining I wanted to make sure there was a contrast and difference in textures.
Our original first choice was this one. But of course……. out of stock. No date of when it would be available
So we went with our second choice…… and I am so glad that the first was out of stock because this flooring is PERFECTION!!!! Take a look!
I love the variation in this flooring and it made me realize the variation in our first choice would have been way too busy and competed with the quartz and backsplash. Here the island still stands out, I was so afraid it was going to be too close in color. I am thrilled with how this flooring really upped the game!
Don’t forget to come back next week!!! You don’t want to miss week 6, it will blow you away!!!!!
Also remember to check out the other participants of the ORC HERE!
