Interior Design, One Room Challenge

ORC Week 6 Kitchen Reno

It’s the week we’ve all (or I’ve been so excited for) been waiting for!!!! COUNTERS!!!!

Lets talk about stone options first. There are soooo many to chose from. One of the most beautiful (in my opinion) but also the most upkeep is Marble. It also probably the most expensive. I have always dreamed of White Carrara Marble counters but the cost and maintenance was just not something I could fathom.

So off to the showroom to see my options for Quartz and Granite. Granite does require a little more maintenance than Quartz but does not stain as easily as Marble. After walking around the showroom it was clear to us Quartz was the way to go.

I was looking for a soft white background and cool gray veining. The veining was super important to me because of my plan for a waterfall edge. What is a Waterfall edge you might ask? A waterfall edge is a design aspect that makes a 90-degree angle at the end of the countertop. Rather than simply ending with a finished edge, the countertop heads toward the floor and continues down the side of the island. I wanted to make a statement right when you walked into the kitchen.

After lots of picture taking, using a kitchen visualizer, and sample comparing we went with Calacatta Leon Quartz by MSI Surfaces

Look at that gorgeous veining!!! It is so dramatic!! And here is that Waterfall Edge that was a must for my vision

Isn’t it AMAZING!!!!! (also look at that black stainless steel microwave!) Here’s a look of the rest of the kitchen

We also installed the hardware. Isn’t it gorgeous!!!!

Let’s take one more look at the top of the island !!!!

We are sooooooo close to the finish line! Backsplash and final touches coming up!!!!

Don’t forget to check out the other guest participants from the ORC here.

See you next week!
